I'm sure your anniversary was a very exciting day for him as well, and it was probably a little overwhelming.
Yours is a problem that even newlyweds have. Men are, by our own admission, a little oblivious at times when it comes to complimenting our better halves. I'm sure if you just gave him a gentle reminder about how much you dressed up for the occasion he would get the hint and remember.
